Jérôme Efong Nzolo

Jérôme Efong Nzolo (born September 21, 1974 in Bitam , Gabon ) is a Belgian football referee of Gabonese origin.

Efong Nzolo grew up in Gabon, the country of his birth. As a teenager he was already a very successful football player, but after a broken leg he was also active as a referee. In 1995 he came to the Belgian city of Charleroi on a scholarship to study electromechanics. After his arrival he played briefly in the seventh division. Then he began to work as a referee. In 2000 he made the jump from the lower leagues up to the fourth division. In 2006 he finally made his debut in the First Division . In 2007, Efong Nzolo was voted Referee of the Year in Belgium, surpassing the renowned referee Frank De Bleeckere . On July 15, 2008, he whistled his first international game (Champions League qualification) with the game Famagusta against Yerevan (1-0). He had previously played in international junior games.
