Jóhanna María Sigmundsdóttir

Jóhanna María Sigmundsdóttir (also Hanna María , born June 28, 1991 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic politician of the Progress Party .

Jóhanna María completed a degree in agricultural science at the agricultural college of Hvanneyri and worked as a farmer in the Westfjords . From 2012 to 2013 she was a board member of the young farmers 'association in Vesturland and the West Fjords and (chairwoman since 2013) of the national young farmers' association. From 2013 to 2014 Jóhanna María was deputy chairwoman of the Association of Young Members of the Progress Party.

Since the Icelandic parliamentary election on April 27, 2013 , Jóhanna María has been a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Northwestern constituency , making it the youngest person ever to be elected to the Althing. At the age of 21 at the time of the election, she beat the previous record of Gunnar Thoroddsen , who was elected to parliament 79 years before her at the age of 23.

Jóhanna María Sigmundsdóttir was a member of Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs and Education and was a member of the Icelandic delegation to the Nordic Council . She did not run for the general election in Iceland in 2016 .
