Jón Dan Jónsson

Jón Dan Jónsson (born March 10, 1915 in Brunnastaðir , Vogar ; † February 27, 2000 in Reykjavík ) was an Icelandic writer .

Life

Jón's parents were the farmer Jón Einarsson and his wife Margrét Pétursdóttir . Jón's mother died of the Spanish flu in 1918 , and two years later he also lost his father. He grew up with a foster family. After graduating from school in 1933, he initially worked in various other professions until he became a tax officer in 1946.

In 1959 Jón published his first book, the collection of short stories Þytur um nótt . Some of his novels are considered to be his most important works.
