Józef Rychlik

Józef Henryk Rychlik (born May 12, 1946 in Kraków ) is a Polish composer and music teacher.

Rychlik studied composition and music theory with Bogusław Schaeffer at the Kraków Music Academy from 1965 to 1970 . As a French government scholarship holder, he took courses in electroacoustic composition in 1978 at the Groupe de Recherche Musicales (GRM) of the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique of Radio France . From 1972 he was a lecturer, from 2002 professor at the Krakow Music Academy. As part of the Młodzi Muzycy Młodemu Miastu festival in Stalowa Wola, he led courses in electronic music from 1976 to 1979. From 1991 to 1998 he was head of music and sound production at the Juliusz Słowacki Theater in Kraków and co-founded the studio for spatial music.

Rychlik's compositions have been performed at various festivals, including the Warsaw Autumn . He has received a number of prizes and awards, including second prize at the Young Composers Competition (1971), third prize at the International Composers Competition in Szczecin (1973), in 1979 the prize at the VII Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique in Bourges and in 1989 the prize at Ogólnopolski Festiwal Filmów Krótkometrażowych in Krakow.
