Katarzyna Józefowicz (born 1959 in Lublin , Poland) is a Polish visual artist (sculptor).

Life

She studied from 1981 to 1986 at the Art School in Gdansk in the class of Professor Edward Sitek. She is an associate professor there and heads the sculpture studio at the Faculty of Sculpture and Intermedien.

Katarzyna Józefowicz creates reliefs and installations out of paper . She transfers the principle of the magazine collage into the third dimension and designs entire room installations with a sea of ​​cut-out figures. The wall-filling installation Habitat (1993–1996) stacks a multitude of miniaturized and abstract living environments made of cardboard and takes the standardized socialist prefabricated building ad absurdum.
