Jörg-Michael Wolters (born August 26, 1960 in Stade ) is a German educational scientist , social worker and sports therapist .

Career

From 1980 to 1989 Wolters first studied education and then social education at the University of Lüneburg, here with a focus on "social therapy". As a student and karate teacher at the same time , he initiated socio-educational projects in the early 1980s with difficult-to-educate children and adolescents who had become criminal, in which he applied the martial art in the sense of Budo as "social sports therapy" (social learning). The educational scientist received his doctorate from interdisciplinary experts from the field of education (atHerbert E. Colla , University of Lüneburg), criminology (with Dieter Rössner , University of Göttingen) and sports science (with Hermann Rieder , University of Heidelberg).

Since then, Wolters has founded, directed and established educational and therapeutic treatment programs in the context of youth welfare, youth prison and child and youth psychiatry, in which martial arts ( Budo ) were systematically applied. He published the results of his research and findings from the practice of martial arts in education and therapy in specialist articles. At the University of Lüneburg, Section Psychiatry-Related Social Pedagogy, he held teaching positions from 1994 to 1999 and works as a lecturer at educational institutions for training in professional youth work and social pedagogy.

Wolters founded the educational science discipline of Budo pedagogy and in 1999 the recognized professional qualification "further training to become a Budo pedagogue" in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with its own international professional association. Wolters heads the "Institute for Budo Pedagogy" and works as a freelance speaker, educator, therapist and coach.
