Hinz uses steel and other metals to work with them freely and expansively. In addition to the classic three-dimensional design elements, he uses a wide variety of movement elements as a means of expression in his kinetic works. As a result of years of debate, numerous large-format mobiles and kinetic installations for public and private spaces have been created. Its special attraction lies in the exciting contrast between its partly technical and technical construction and the gestural expression of the spatial movements flowing in ascending and descending curved paths. The ingenious system of differently inclined, ball-bearing axes results in a course of spatial movement sequences that is repeatedly surprising for the viewer - gentle and gliding, playful and easy.

Hinz also uses other materials and figurative motifs in individual applied tasks. Most of his works are in public space. a. in Halle, Magdeburg, Merseburg, Dessau, Eisenach, Erfurt, Leipzig, Stendal, Wernigerode, Jena, Wolfen, Aurich, Celle, Essen and Berlin and are the result of numerous competitions and grants that have been won.
