Jörg Bagdahn (* 1971 in Köthen ) is a German engineer and university president. He is since 2009 Professor for the area materials of photovoltaic in the Department of Electrical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering of the University of Anhalt and since September 2016 also president of this university.

Life

After completing school in Köthen, Bagdahn studied materials engineering at the TU Chemnitz . As an engineer, he received his doctorate in 2000 from the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg on the atomic bonding of monocrystalline silicon wafers . He then conducted research at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore on the subject of the long-term reliability of polycrystalline silicon layers . After management tasks at Fraunhofer IWM, he took over the management of the Fraunhofer Center for Silicon Photovoltaics CSP in Halle in 2008. The Fraunhofer CSP is a joint institution of the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems for Mechanics of Materials IWM and Solar Energy Systems ISE.
