Jörg Bergmann

Jörg Bergmann (* 1946 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German sociologist .

biography

He graduated from the University of Munich with a degree in psychology, sociology, philosophy and linguistics in 1975 and then spent two years in Konstanz and Los Angeles. There he received a research grant from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation . From 1990 Bergmann worked as a professor for microsociology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . From 2001 until his retirement in 2012 he was Professor of Qualitative Methods in Empirical Social Research at Bielefeld University . There he held his farewell lecture on "Irritations, breaks, catastrophes. On social practices of dealing with 'disturbances' in interaction" on January 25, 2012.

Furthermore, Bergmann was director at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) between 2006 and 2011 and director of the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) between 2007 and 2010 .
