Jörg Enz (* 1974 in Böblingen ) is a German jazz musician (guitar).

biography

Jörg Enz belongs to the generation of younger guitarists who are mainly at home in modern jazz . He learned his trade to a large extent in the USA, where he has spent a lot of time in recent years. The New York scene provided him with a starting point; there he was inspired by, among others, Peter Bernstein , who should be mentioned as an important mentor in this context.

In Germany, Jörg Enz has made a name for himself especially in the south of the republic and in Switzerland, not only with his own trio, but also in collaboration with various nationally and internationally known jazz musicians. In addition to numerous projects in which he appears in very different formats, in recent years he has increasingly concentrated on the classic Hammond trio line-up, in which the Hammond B3 organ from the 1960s and the drums are used. The guitarist particularly likes to work in this format and is often on stage with this line-up. For example, the Jörg Enz Organic Trio made a live recording for Südwestrundfunk 2012, a mixture of standards and their own compositions, which was then released in co-production with SWR as their trio's debut album. In collaboration with the Konstanz drummer Patrick Manzecchi and the Swiss pianist and organist Stewy von Wattenwyl , Enz produced the album Out Of The Box in the same year , which shows the guitarist's particular affinity for the Hammond organ.

In 2018 the album Glances & Giggles was released , a studio recording by the Jörg Enz Organic Trio, which was released by the Stuttgart label Mocher Music .

Enz has been teaching at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern since 2015 . Founded in 1967, it is Europe's first autonomous jazz school.
