Jörg Schulze (born September 26, 1938 in Arnswalde , Pomerania , now Poland) is a German architect and monument conservator . He was deputy head of the Rhenish Office for Monument Preservation .

Life

Jörg Schulze grew up in the post-war period in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe  , where he graduated from high school in 1958. He then studied architecture and urban planning at RWTH Aachen University and the Technical University of Berlin . After his main diploma examination in 1964, he did a traineeship at the State Building Administration of North Rhine-Westphalia in Cologne and Bonn.

As head of department for school buildings at the Siegen State Building Authority, Schulze u. a. responsible for the planning and realization of school and university buildings. From 1971 to 1975 he was given a teaching position for building construction and design at the newly founded University of Siegen . Until 1977 he worked at the state building authority in Hagen.

In 1972, with a dissertation on the topic of 19th century church buildings in the old Siegkreis at RWTH Aachen University, he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD .

From 1977 until his retirement in 2001, Schulze held various positions at the Rhineland State Conservator and the later Rhenish Office for the Preservation of Monuments . In 1980 he became the state building director and co-founded the building technology working group of the state monument conservationists, whose spokesman he became in 1988. Since 1986 he was deputy head of office.

From 1984 Schulze held a teaching position at the art history seminar at the University of Düsseldorf ; in the same year he was appointed honorary professor. At the same time, he conducted numerous training seminars in the field of monument preservation for craftsmen and architects.

Schulze is the author of numerous articles in specialist publications and has been giving lectures nationwide on topics related to monument preservation since 1980, even after his retirement in 2001.
