Jörg Thiele

Jörg Thiele (*  1960 ) is a German sports educator and university teacher .

Life

After studying (sport, philosophy, educational science ) in Cologne , Thiele worked from 1985 as a research assistant in the field of education at the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS). In 1989 he submitted his doctoral thesis there with the title “Phenomenology and Sports Education: Exemplary Analyzes”. Until 2000, Thiele stayed at the sports university as a research assistant or, after completing his habilitation in 1995, as a university lecturer. In the meantime he held substitute professorships for sports education at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster (1996 and 1997) and at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg (1999 and 2000).

In 2001, Thiele took up a full professorship in the field of sports education / sports sociology at the Institute for Sports and Sports Science at the Technical University of Dortmund . In his scientific work, he focuses on school sport, competitive young sport, professionalization in sport and qualitative research methods.
