Constant cap
Constant Aimé Marie Cap (born June 2, 1842 in Sint-Niklaas , † October 9, 1915 in Antwerp ) was a Belgian genre painter and etcher.
He studied in his hometown at the Académie Saint-Nicolas with August De Wilde, then at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schoone Kunsten van Antwerp with Polydore Beaufaux , Joseph Geefs and Bernard Pierre Weiser. After graduating, he worked as a freelance artist in Antwerp. From 1865 he took part in official salons.
In addition to the genre scenes from bourgeois life, he painted pictures that represented the technical achievements of the 19th century: flights in hot air balloons, trips in elegant train compartments.
At the world exhibition in Antwerp in 1894 he showed views of the old quarters of this city.
