Jörn-Axel Meyer

Jörn-Axel Meyer (* 1962 ) is a university professor and industrial engineer (Dipl.-Ing.) Specializing in mechanical engineering at the TU Berlin . As a medium-sized business expert, he is present both as a guest on radio and television and with many of his own contributions in newspapers and magazines.

Meyer wrote his dissertation on computer integration in marketing and his habilitation thesis on organizational psychological issues of visualization in management. His research focuses on SMEs , marketing, start-ups and innovation.

He taught and teaches at the TU Berlin and in the USA a. a. at the Humboldt University of Berlin , the University of Magdeburg, the University of Potsdam, at the ESC Toulouse and at the Academy of the Government of the Russian Federation in Moscow, the Steinbeis University , the University of Bremen and the AutoUni. He headed the chair for business administration - international marketing at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) 1995 and 1996. From 1997 to 2002 he held the first university chair for business administration for small and medium-sized companies in Germany at the University of Flensburg .

Since October 2002 he has been on leave from this position for several years in order to head the German Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises. He worked in various companies, including at the board level of a global German group, and has been a consultant for around 25 years. He was also the managing director or board member of a consulting company.

So far he has published 50 books and well over 50 scientific papers. He is the editor of two book series. He is a science laureate in the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and sits on various advisory boards and expert committees. He is also a reviewer for international journals and sits on the Editorial Advisory Board u. a. at the International Small Business Journal and Journal of Small Business Management. Meyer is chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation .
