Jørgen Kristensen (born December 12, 1946 in Hedehusene , Denmark ) is a former Danish football player .
Career as a club player
Kristensen started his professional career at Køge BK . In 1968 he moved to the USA for one season with the Detroit Cougars. He then returned to Europe and moved to the Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam , where he was a regular for four years. In 1972 he followed the call of the big local rival Feyenoord Rotterdam . After four successful years - including winning the UEFA Cup and the Dutch Championship in 1974 - he signed with Bundesliga club Hertha BSC in 1976 . Although Kristensen was a regular in Berlin , he did not get a new contract after the 1977/78 season, as he still wanted to go to his family who still lived in Denmark for two days after every league game. The new Hertha coach Kuno Klötzer did not accept this and so Kristensen moved to the Danish club Næstved BK for half a year .
In 1978 the Chicago Sting hired him for two years. After the stations Tulsa Roughnecks and Calgary Boomers in Canada , he ended his career as a professional footballer. In 1981 Kristensen then switched to indoor football . For the Wichita Wings and the Kansas City Comets he ran a total of 214 times and scored 79 goals. With his 271 assists he is also the tenth best preparer in the history of the Major Soccer League .
Career as a national player
In June 1971 Kristensen made his debut for the Danish national football team , where he was part of the squad until 1973. After that he was no longer nominated until 1976 due to strong competition. When he moved to the USA in 1978, he ended his national team career due to the great distance. In total, he played 19 times for the national team of Denmark and scored three goals.
