history

A Jewish settlement of Mladá Vožice is said to have been mentioned for the first time in the middle of the 17th century; At the beginning of the 18th century there is said to have been an already constituted Jewish community in the community. Until the middle of the 19th century, settlement in Mladá Vožice was only allowed for eight Jewish families. Thereafter, their number rose to 169 people in 1890, after which the number fell continuously until only 37 people passed themselves off as Jews in the 1930s census . During the Second World War , the Jews were deported and most of them died in the Auschwitz concentration camp or in the Belarusian extermination camp Maly Trostinez . There are no known survivors.

The municipality also had a cemetery, but it was located between the Elbančice and the village of Vilice , on a cadastre belonging to the municipality of Běleč , and about four kilometers away.
