The Jüdische Korrespondenz appeared from 1915 to 1920 with the title Weekly Gazette for Jewish Interests . The weekly newspaper initially had a format of 41.5 × 25 cm (2 °), from 1919 to 1920 28 × 19 cm (4 °). The newspaper was printed in the Melantrich book printing company in Vienna , headed by Samuel Grünhut . In 1917 the cooperative printing company worked.

The newspaper was the predecessor of the Jewish press. Organ for the interests of Orthodox Judaism , which appeared weekly from 1920 to 1938 under changing publishers.

  • Jonas Kreppel (publisher and responsible editor): He was born on December 25, 1874 in Drohobycz (Austrian Galicia), learned the printing trade and, as an autodidact, continued his education as an editor and publicist of German-language, Yiddish , Polish and Hebrew newspapers and magazines in Drohobycz , Krakow and finally in Vienna. Here he joined the Austrian civil service as press spokesman for the Foreign Office at the beginning of the First World War, and after the war he joined the Federal Chancellery. From 1915 to 1920 Jonas Kreppel edited and edited the Jewish correspondence . After the annexation of Austria by Germany, Jonas Kreppel was imprisoned in the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps and murdered on July 21, 1940. His ashes rest in the Vienna Central Cemetery / Israelite Department.
