Evelyn Adunka

Evelyn Adunka (born October 22, 1965 in Villach ) is an Austrian historian and publicist .

Life

Evelyn Adunka studied philosophy, historical studies and Jewish studies at the University of Vienna and was there with a later published as a book thesis on Friedrich Heer Dr. phil. PhD.

She was a lecturer in modern Jewish philosophy at the University of Vienna .

The focus of her research lies in the field of Jewish contemporary and intellectual history, on which she has published numerous papers.

Adunka is a member of the editorial team of Zwischenwelt. Journal for the culture of exile and resistance , member of the Austrian PEN Club and board member of the “Austrian Society for Exile Research” and was a founding and long-term board member of the Jewish liberal community “Or Chadasch - Movement for Progressive Judaism”, founded in Vienna in 1990 .

In 2019 she was awarded the City of Vienna Prize for Journalism.
