The Herbern Jewish cemetery is located in the Herbern district of the Ascheberg community in the Coesfeld district in North Rhine-Westphalia . As a Jewish cemetery it is a listed building and has been under the monument number “Herbern Lfd. No. 8 ”entered in the list of monuments.

In the cemetery on Südfeld / Waterforwinkel (formerly Dörnweg) 16 tombstones have been preserved. The cemetery was occupied from around 1800 to 1927.

history

The cemetery was devastated between 1936 and 1937, with 18 tombstones being completely destroyed. The cemetery was desecrated again during the Reichspogromnacht . It was restored in 1946.
