A piece of land to set up a Jewish cemetery in Arnstadt was acquired by the Jewish community in 1912. The first burials took place in 1924 (for Hedwig Stern, née Liebenthal, and Herz Herzberg, who both died in March 1924), the last burial was in autumn 1939 (for Hermann Stern).
