The Rommerskirchen Jewish Cemetery is located on Nettesheimer Weg in the municipality of Rommerskirchen in the Rhine district of Neuss ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

history

Jews have been recorded in Rommerskirchen since around 1740. Since 1853 the Jewish community has belonged to the Zons -Dormagen branch community . In 1932 it was attached to Neuss . The size of the congregation was 37 in 1806, 40 in 1816, 43 in 1885 and 33 in 1933. A synagogue built before 1843 was completely destroyed during the November pogroms in 1938 .

The Jewish cemetery on Nettesheimer Weg was occupied until 1934 and heavily devastated in 1938. Nine tombstones have been preserved. The burial place is walled and not open to the public. It can only be reached via a neighboring private property. On the cemetery wall there is a memorial plaque for the Jewish victims of the Nazi regime.
