The Jewish cemetery in Hemmerden , a district of Grevenbroich in the Rhine district of Neuss in North Rhine-Westphalia , is on the road to Bedburdyck . The cemetery was in the movie Marianne's Homecoming. The Jewess, the official and the village are described and shown.
history
The Jewish branch community in Hemmerden belonged to the Grevenbroich synagogue district, to which it was attached in 1932. The size of the congregation was 27 in 1806, 44 in 1822, 17 in 1885 and 26 in 1930. A first prayer house is occupied in 1787 and a new building in 1859, which was devastated in 1938. The building was later used several times and is now a residential building. The cemetery was laid out in the early 19th century. 39 tombstones ( mazewot ) from the years 1809 to 1982 still exist on it.
