The Zierenberg Jewish cemetery is a Jewish cemetery in the small Hessian town of Zierenberg in the Kassel district .

description

The 197 square meter cemetery is located on the edge of the Zierenberg town center on Ehlener Straße. There are still eleven tombstones from 1900 to 1933 on it.

A memorial stone from 1946 bears the inscription:

“The bones of Zierenberg's Jews rest here. This memorial stone is a witness to all gravestones that once stood in this place and were destroyed by Nazi terror. 1938-1946. "

history

The Jewish community of Zierenberg laid out its own cemetery in 1846. By 1938 there were around 90 grave inscriptions on around 40 gravestones. In 1939, during the Nazi era , the mayor at the time had the cemetery leveled.
