Juerg Leuthold

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jürg Leuthold (born April 4, 1958 ) is a former Swiss politician ( SVP ). From 1998 to 2008 he was a member of the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Zurich . From 1999 to 2003 he was President of the Health Commission, temporarily also head of the SVP parliamentary group.

He announced his resignation from the Cantonal Council on February 12, 2008 after it became public that, according to a ruling by the Zurich Social Insurance Court in November 2007, he had been wrongly receiving a disability pension for several years . On February 14, 2008 Leuthold resigned from his party. The Federal Supreme Court found in November 2008 that Leuthold had wrongly received IV pensions, but had acted in good faith. He therefore only had to repay the pension payments from his pension fund.

The case caused a stir because the SVP had committed itself to combating “bogus disability”.
