Jürg Neuenschwander (* 1953 in Signau , Canton Bern ) is a Swiss film director and film producer.

He became known with films like Sooner or Later , Herbs and Powers and Q Encounters on the Milky Way .

Life

Neuenschwander has been working with video and film since the early 1970s. In 1978 he was a founding member of the Container TV cooperative, today Container TV, AG for film and television production. From 1979 to 1981 he developed and managed an extensive community TV project in Bern's Tscharnergut district. Since 1984 Neuenschwander has been the author of numerous cinema, television and short films in Bangladesh, Nepal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Bolivia, China (Tibet), the USA and Switzerland. From 1999 to 2008 he was also involved in founding and developing the MediaLab, Bern University of the Arts . From 1985 he took on teaching positions at MAZ - the Swiss School of Journalism , at the Bern School of Design and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In addition to the Bern University of the Arts (1999–2016), Neuenschwander has also taught as a visiting professor at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University Shanghai (2009–2016) since 2009.

From 1987 to 1995 he was a member of the Film Commission of the Canton of Bern and from 2005 to 2008 a member of the “non-fiction” committee of the Zurich Film Foundation .

At the beginning of 2016 Neuenschwander was appointed as “Overseas High-Livel Talent” National Chair Professor at the College for Arts & Media 艺术 于 传媒 学院 at Tongji University in Shanghai as part of the Shanghai “Recruitment Program of Global Experts” (上海 千人 计划) been. Jürg Neuenschwander is the owner and CEO of Container TV, AG for film and television production.
