Juerg Oleas

Jürg Oleas (born December 8, 1957 in Quito ) is a Swiss mechanical engineer; he was CEO of the GEA Group .

Oleas grew up in South America . In 1976, he began studying mechanical engineering in Zurich with an additional specialization in law . Five years later he graduated with a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering. In 1982 he went to ABB . Until 1996 he worked as a development engineer in the field of steam turbines and plant construction .

From 1999 to 2001 he worked in a leading position at Alstom Power Switzerland. In 2001 he became a board member of mg technologies AG, today's GEA Group . On November 1, 2004, he was appointed CEO. On March 18, 2018, he informed the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Helmut Perlet that he will not extend his contract beyond December 31, 2019 and intends to leave the Executive Board at the Annual General Meeting in April 2019. Stefan Klebert has been appointed as his successor since February 18, 2019.
