Jürgen Escher

Jürgen Escher (born October 5, 1951 in Markersbach ) is a former German soccer player and coach.

Athletic career

Escher played as an active soccer player throughout his career in attack at BSG Wismut Aue . In 310 games in the GDR league between 1971 and 1985, he scored a total of 31 goals, making him one of the club's most successful goal scorers. In four of his 15 league seasons he was in all 26 games of the season. In addition, he was used in 60 cup encounters, including two games in the European Cup , in which he scored a total of eight goals.

Coaching career

After finishing his active career, Escher became assistant coach under Hans Speth in 1987 . From April 23 to June 30, 1988 and from November 28, 1989 to November 27, 1990, the coach, who lives in Scheibenberg, was head coach of the club's sporting fortunes. In November 1990 he was replaced by Klaus Toppmöller .
