Jürgen Kießling

Jürgen Kießling (* 1939 ; † July 13, 2006 in Berlin ) also Mister WM was, among other things, the main initiator of the fan mile on the Strasse des 17. Juni but also played a key role in the preparation and coordination of all World Cup events in Berlin and also acted as Spokesman for the twelve German World Cup cities.

Life

Jürgen Kießling began his career in the Berlin administration in 1986 under Education Senator Hanna-Renate Laurien . After the 2006 World Cup was awarded to Germany, the Senate assigned him the task of World Cup coordinator for Berlin. As World Cup coordinator, he was responsible for the preparation and organization of all World Cup events in the capital, which is why he was Berlin's highest sports official . Jürgen Kießling died on July 13, 2006 by suicide .
