JO LaMadeleine

Joseph Ovila LaMadeleine (born May 1, 1880 in Valleyfield , † January 28, 1973 in Montreal ) was a Canadian fiddle player.

LaMadeleine learned to play fiddle from his father Albert LaMadeleine . He initially worked as a lumberjack and went to Montreal in 1919, where he performed at folk concerts and opened a music store in the late 1920s. From 1927 he made numerous recordings for the Starr label and later for RCA , some with his father, his sons Marcel and Albert or as the companion of his daughter, the singer Aurore Beaulé or Ovila Légarés . Titles such as Polka de Donalda , Polka canadienne , Valse des lilas and Valse du bonheur became popular .
