Wounds of the Past is an American television film made by CBS . It was first aired on October 26, 1997. Directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman.

action

The dissimilar sisters Sarah and Wanda inherit a forest property from their mother. During the first inspection of the overgrown area, they notice an old wooden hut that is inhabited by the very old, dark-skinned Lilly Cooper and her numerous cats. Sarah's 15-year-old daughter Gina has no reservations and wants to know more about the life of the quirky old people.

Sarah - neat and in great financial need - aims to sell the property as soon as possible. Wanda's attitude is different. She fears Mrs. Cooper could be evicted from her home after the sale. She has enjoyed free living in the hut for almost 50 years. Sarah can't take it into account. The old lady then has to move to an old people's home. Since this has to be arranged by a relative, she tries to locate Lilly's son Henry. But that is not so easy.

Sarah gets impatient. When she tells the local sheriff how confused and neglected the old lady is, he has her forcibly taken to a hospital. There she will first undergo an extensive health check. Sarah, Wanda and Gina visit her. Mrs. Cooper now tells that that sheriff - corrupt like no other - took away her son at a young age. Another surprising piece of news is that it can be proven that the testator gave the forest to the less well-off Mrs. Cooper several years ago. She lives from the sale of the pecans that she collects in the forest.

Days later, Gina and Sarah found Henry Cooper. However, he hesitates to visit his mother. He never understood why she left him alone. A mother would do anything to find her lost son. Sarah - now purified - persistently persuades him to visit his mother in the hospital. It's bad for them. It could be the last visit of its kind. On the way to the operating room, there is a long-awaited reunion. Lilly had waited 50 years for this moment. She does not survive the heart operation. So it was the first and last reunion. But Lilly's great wish came true.
