J. Spencer Trimingham

John Spencer Trimingham (born November 17, 1904 , † March 6, 1987 ) was a British scholar and Christian missionary who worked on Islam and Christianity . He was a professor at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut . His main topics are Islam in Africa and Sufism . A classic work is considered to be about the Sufi orders ( The Sufi Orders in Islam , 1971).
