history

In 1928, Hermann Jöbstl senior founded the Jöbstl OHG specializing in removals and furniture transports. The founder's personal interest in art and antiques led to the expansion of art transports in 1956. Until 1985, the company concentrated heavily on the area of furniture logistics. In 1985 the company expanded its range to include textile logistics.

In 1988 Hermann Jöbstl junior took over the business. The further expansion of textile logistics, for example with the purchase of a textile processing plant in Oberaich, followed in the 1990s. At the turn of the millennium, Hermann Jöbstl junior took a stake in the company Agis-Aweca Asia and thus opened up the air and sea freight sector, which corresponded above all to the change in the textile industry, the outsourcing of production facilities to Asia.

At this time, the current owner and son of Hermann Junior, Stephan Jöbstl, founded today's company JCL Logistics through a joint venture with what was then Centrum Logistik. In 2008 he took over the company, which until then had around 100 employees and was mainly local, from his father. The service portfolio was expanded with strategic acquisitions and investments.

In 2009, JCL Logistics acquired 74.9% of the shares in the Kraus & Papst Group, the then Europe-wide market leader in the transport and logistics of unpackaged large instruments. Shortly thereafter, Logwin Road + Rail locations were gradually acquired, for example in the Netherlands, Vorarlberg, Switzerland, Spain and Southern Europe, which meant a decisive expansion of the service capacities in terms of transport, warehousing and value-added services. With these acquisitions, the number of employees rose to a total of 1,500.

With the acquisition of Wincanton BV, later JCL Logistics Benelux BV, in 2011, JCL Logistics The Netherlands BV became one of the leading logistics service providers in the Benelux region. In addition to opening up the Benelux region with contract logistics and intermodal transport, the network in the CIS countries, Eastern Europe and the Middle East was also strengthened. Shortly thereafter, branches were opened in Romania, Lithuania and Russia. JCL Logistics The Netherlands BV was devastated in spring 2014 through a management buy-out .

In January 2013, JCL Logistics bought the majority of the Sino-Korean logistics company ACE GLS Inc., thereby expanding the logistics services between China and Europe. At the end of 2014, this was converted into a strategic investment.

In June 2013, Stephan Jöbstl moved to the Supervisory Board as Chairman. The function as CEO was taken over by Stefan Delacher, who formed the executive board with Martin Löffler ( CFO ). The company was still largely family-owned: Stephan Jöbstl held around 75%, and the financial investor Lead Equities owned 25% of the shares in JCL Logistics.

In October 2013, Stephan Jöbstl moved back from the Supervisory Board and took over as CEO again . Marco Dazzi, CFO since January 1, 2014, and Robert Frei, COO since October 1, 2013, joined the company.

At the end of 2013, the company's headquarters were relocated to Switzerland, and Stephan Jöbstl was again in possession of 100% of the shares. In 2014 JCL Logistics generated an annual turnover of 360 million euros.

JCL AG has been 100 percent privately owned again since 2014. Stephan Jöbstl as CEO and COO and Edda Tripolt (CFD) form the management. The 1,150 employees, spread across around 40 locations in Europe and Asia, achieved sales of around 360 million euros in the 2016 financial year.
