JETRO

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

JETRO stands for Japan External Trade Organization ( Japanese日本 貿易 振興 機構nihon bōeki shinkō kikō , Japanese foreign trade organization). The JETRO (ジ ェ ト ロ) was established in 1958 by the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry ( MITI ) to support and promote Japanese export efforts. More than half of the annual budget of JETRO is financed by the state. JETRO is represented with 74 offices in 56 countries, 36 agencies in Japan not included.

Since many Japanese exporters have successfully established themselves internationally since their foundation and Japan can show a comfortable foreign trade surplus, JETRO has differentiated and expanded its activities. She now also looks after import transactions (in the form of trade fairs, seminars and publications), cooperations between small local companies and their partners abroad, and tries to achieve mutual understanding. Foreign companies that want to gain a foothold in the Japanese market or want to expand are also advised and mediated. For example, JETRO offers up-to-date information on laws and regulations for setting up a business in Japan and mediates business partners.

In 1962, JETRO opened a branch in Düsseldorf and thus became a co-founder of the city's Japanese community and the first German Japantown .
