JKA Foundation

The JKA Foundation ( English for Japanese 公益 財 団 法人 JKA , kōeki zaidan-hōjin jeikēē ) is a Japanese kōeki zaidan-hōjin (non-profit foundation) under the control of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry , which is responsible for the orientation of Keirin and Car racing competitions in Japan is responsible. The foundation, based in Chiyoda , Tokyo Prefecture , was initially set up for Keirin in 2007. In 2008 she also took over the auto racing business. Until 2013, the JKA was a zaidan-hōjin ( 財 団 法人 , English "Foundation"). Keirin is the Japanese variant of track cycling , Auto Race is a form of motorcycle speedway that takes place on asphalt tracks . Both sports, along with horse and motorboat races , belong to the "public competitions" ( 公 営 競技 , kōei kyōgi ), in which sports betting plays a major role and which are regulated by the state. The ministries responsible for public gambling ( kōei gamble ) are the Ministry of Economic Affairs for Keirin and Auto Race, the Ministry of Agriculture for horse races, the Ministry of Transport for motorboat races, the Ministry of Culture for Toto and the Ministry of Interior for Lotto.

The JKA headquarters has 250 employees. Sales in fiscal year 2008 were around 37 billion yen - mostly from the Keirin business. A loss of around 1 billion yen was generated.
