JMT
JMT (Jazz Music Today) was a German record label that existed in Munich from 1985 to 1995 and focused on jazz . It was directed by Stefan Winter, who was able to present a number of established musicians on his label, such as B. Django Bates , John McLaughlin , Paul Motian and Gary Thomas . Steve Coleman , Greg Osby and Cassandra Wilson started their careers as solo artists with JMT before moving to other labels.
In 1995 the label had to be closed due to a lack of financial backing from the parent company Polydor. Stefan Winter then founded Winter & Winter in 1997 as his successor. Some artists such as B. Paul Motian and Uri Caine continued their work on this label and released their next records there. In the years 2002 to 2005 all JMT publications were gradually re-released in a special JMT edition by Winter & Winter.
Others
Stefan Winter brought out his own CD on the label called The Little Trumpet , a work he designed and which was mainly recorded by JMT regulars.
