Jabbour Douaihy

Jabbour Douaihy ( Arabic جبور الدويهي; * 1949 in Zgharta , Lebanon ) is a Lebanese writer.

Life

Douaihy comes from a Christian Lebanese family. He studied comparative literature at the Sorbonne . Douaihy is Professor of French Literature at the Lebanese University in Beirut .

His novel Morgen des Zorns was nominated for the Arabic Booker Prize in 2008 and has been translated into several languages; it was published in German in 2012. In it, the author works in changing perspectives on a feud that grew into civil war in the 1950s, into his Family was actually involved. Twenty people were killed in the feud in a single day. Names and events were changed or fictionalized.

The novel Chased away was nominated for the Arab Booker Prize 2012.

In addition to novels, Jabbour Douaihy writes short stories and children's books.
