Jabez Bryce

Jabez Leslie Bryce (born January 1935 in Vavaʻu , Tonga , † February 11, 2010 in Suva ) was an Anglican bishop .

Live and act

Jabez Bryce was born in Vavaʻu, Tonga in January 1935 and grew up in Samoa . From 1960 he lived in Fiji . Bryce later went to Auckland to prepare for his clerical career. He was ordained a priest in 1962 . In 1975 he was ordained bishop and headed the Diocese of Polynesia . Bryce was the first native bishop. All of its predecessors were either British or Australian in origin.

In 2006 he was elected one of the three leaders of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia alongside William Brown Turei and David Moxon , and has since held the title of Archbishop.

In August 2008 he took part in the coronation ceremony of the new Tongan King George Tupou V , during which he crowned George Tupou V.

Bryce was married and had two children.
