Jabier Kaltzakorta

Jabier Kaltzakorta Elorza (born March 22, 1961 in Markina-Xemein , Bizkaia ) is a Spanish writer who writes in the Basque language . He is an expert in Basque entertainment literature and a professor at the Universidad de Deusto .

Life

Jabier Kaltzakorta studied linguistics at the Universidad de Deusto and finished his studies in Basque philology in 1984. For his thesis entitled Euskal baladen corpuserako edizio kritikoa ("Critical edition of a corpus of Basque ballads") he received 10 out of 10 possible points. Since 1994 he has taught oral literature and Basque literature from the 16th to 19th centuries at the Humanities Faculty of the Universidad de Deusto .

In 1996 he became a member of the Euskaltzaindia ( Royal Academy of the Basque Language ) in the Commission for popular fiction . He is also a member of the jury at the Premios Literarios Azkue youth award ceremony .

In 2013 he was elected a full member of Eskaltzaindia to succeed José Luis Lizundia (* 1938).
