Jabodetabek
Jabodetabek , formerly Jabotabek , is the common acronym for the metropolitan area on the Indonesian island of Java , which is formed by the cities of Jakarta , Bogor , Depok , Tangerang and Bekasi and their associated counties.
The name Jabodetabek is composed of the first letters of the five cities:
- Yes karta
- Bo gor
- De pok
- Ta ngerang
- Bek asi
With 31.7 million inhabitants (as of 2015) Jabodetabek is one of the largest metropolitan regions in the world. Jabodetabek is experiencing high population growth, mainly due to immigration from the rural regions of the country.
