Jacek Bąk [ ˈjatsɛk ˈbɔŋk ] (born March 24, 1973 in Lublin , Poland ) is a former Polish football player who has also had French citizenship since 2004 .

Career

Defender Jacek Bąk started his career in his hometown with Motor Lublin . At the age of 16 he made his debut in the combat team and was already a regular at the age of 18. In 1992 he moved to Lech Posen , where he became Polish champion in his first season. In 1995 he moved to the top French team Olympique Lyon . He played here for six years, but during this time he often had injury concerns. Nevertheless, he came to 114 appearances for Lyon. In 2001 he moved to RC Lens . With Lens, as with Lyon, he played in the UEFA Champions League . In 2005 he moved to Qatar to Al-Rayyan Sports Club . For the 2007/08 season he moved to the Austrian club FK Austria Wien . He signed there for two years. After the 2009/10 season he ended his active football career with second place in the championship. From the summer of 2010 he let his career fade away for another six months at the lower-class FC Polska Wien .

National team

Jacek Bąk played a total of 96 international matches for the Polish national football team and scored three goals. He played his first game on February 1, 1993. He was also the captain of the national team for a long time. He was in the squad for the soccer world championship 2002 and the soccer world championship 2006 , as well as with the soccer championship 2008 .

After winning the European Championship qualifier in Belgium on November 15, 2006, Bąk caused a sensation when he said in an interview that the Belgian side had offered him € 10,000 if he fouled a Belgian player in the penalty area. The Belgian Football Association examined the allegations of corruption, but did not come to a final conclusion, so the investigation was closed.

In August 2008, Bąk ended his career in the national team.
