Jackson Pollock Bar
Jackson Pollock Bar was founded in 1993 by Christian Matthiessen in Freiburg . Since 1996, this is playback - Performance -Unternehmen in Theater Freiburg resident.
“The Jackson Pollock Bar's business purpose is to install theories. Theories, especially aesthetic theories, no longer form a neutral, abstract background to art. Rather, they have become its material component. The aesthetic has become discursive and the discourse aesthetic. This is the implosion of art into discourse . Theories differ from works only on the first-order level of observation - through different qualities, logics and modes of experience. When the world becomes an exhibition, namely a self-exhibition of observations, then exhibiting can no longer be a privilege of art. "
Actors at the Jackson Pollock Bar are Martin Horn , Peter Cieslinski, Anna Wouters and Gotthard Lange . Since 1995 there have been regular collaborations with the British conceptual art group Art & Language . Works by the Jackson Pollock Bar included 1997 at documenta X in Kassel, 1999 at MoMA PS1 New York, 2000 and 2007 at the Center for Art and Media , Karlsruhe, 2001 at Volksbühne Berlin , 2003 at Schauspielhaus Zürich and the Lisson Gallery , London and 2004 at the Getty Foundation , Los Angeles.
