Jacob von Blanckenburg , also Jacob von Blankenburg , (* 1525 , † February 18, 1595 in Wiederstedt ) was a financially strong Mecklenburg nobleman and pledge holder of the monastery and office of Wiederstedt .

Life

Blanckenburg came from a Mecklenburg noble family who had their seat in Hildebrandshagen . His brothers were Busso, Christoph, Georg, Otto and Joachim von Blanckenburg. With them he took part in the Ditmarschen War in 1559 .

At the request of the indebted Count of Mansfeld, he lent them the sum of 14,000 gold guilders on April 13, 1561, for which he received the secularized Wiederstedt Monastery near Hettstedt as a pledge. Since the Mansfeld counts were unable to repay the loan, he was officially placed in the Wiederstedt pledge in 1580. When he died childless, the daughter Catharina inherited his brother Joachim von Blanckenburg Wiederstedt.
