Jacques Inaudi
Jacques Inaudi , or Giacomo Inaudi (born October 15, 1867 in Roccabruna , Italy , † November 10, 1950 in Champigny-sur-Marne , France ) was an Italian mental arithmetic artist.
Life
Giacomo Inaudi was born and raised in a poor family. His father taught him the profession of shepherd . Inaudi's talent for mental arithmetic soon emerged and so, at the age of twelve, after the death of his mother, he was sent to Marseille , where he met Bénédit Jules Dombey, a watch salesman for whom he worked, and his daughter, Marie-Antoinette, himself later married.
In the early 1890s, he drew the attention of psychologists and doctors at various lectures at the Academy of Sciences. There he met Jean-Martin Charcot and Alfred Binet , who examined Inaudi's skills. Above all, Binet devoted himself to the topic and published some works on it.
In 1881 he was engaged by Emile Robert-Houdin, director of the Robert Houdin Theater in the Palais Royal in Paris. His manager, Monsieur de Thorcey (alias Albert Ferdinant Guyot), also organized numerous appearances for him at French trade fairs, where he worked out the most difficult mathematical operations for the audience in their heads.
After Thorcey died in Champigny-sur-Marne on August 30, 1937, Robert Colson became his new manager for eight years. Jacques Inaudi died on November 25, 1950, also in Champigny-sur-Marne.
Inaudi developed a roulette system (the so-called Inaudi system), which he practiced with success, albeit only over 3,000 coups. He played on a single piece, which was played after exactly two series of four (for example four red followed by four black).
