Jacques Wallage

Jacques Wallage (born September 27, 1946 in Apeldoorn ) is a Dutch politician . He is a member of the social democratic Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA).
Life
Wallage was 1972-1981 Associate and from 1998 to 2009 Mayor of the city of Groningen and was designed by Peter Rehwinkel replaced.
He was born in Apeldoorn in the middle of the Netherlands. Later his family moved to Groningen in the province of the same name . He comes from a middle-class Jewish family and grew up in Groningen and studied there. He joined his party in 1964.
From 1981 to 1989 and from 1994 to 1998 he was a member of the Second Chamber . In the 1994 elections he was campaign leader for his party and from 1989 to 1994 State Secretary .
Wallage has been an honorary professor at the University of Groningen since 2009 .
