The Jacquot steam car is an early automobile .

The French Jacquot from Chantilly manufactured a steam car in 1878 .

The vehicle has four wheels, the rear ones being larger than the front ones. In addition, the front track width is smaller than the rear. The steam engine has two separate cylinders . The boiler is installed above the front axle. The engine power is transmitted to the rear wheels via two leather straps. The gearbox has herringbone gears . The simple axle steering acts on the front wheels. The vehicle is braked with simple block brakes on the rear wheels. The vehicle with the Wagonette body shape offers space for two to four people behind the front bench seat on two benches arranged across the direction of travel.

The vehicle has been preserved and can be viewed in the Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse .
