Jadersdorf

Jadersdorf is a village in the Gitschtal municipality in Carinthia.

geography

The village is located on the north side of the Gitschtal at the foot of the Großboden ( 1806  m ), an offshoot of the Spitzegel group . The place with a tuff grotto is already mentioned in the "Directory of Summer Places to Stay in Carinthia" from 1887, which documents the beginnings of tourism.

history

In the 5th and 6th centuries there was a fortified hilltop settlement with an early urban character on the Kappele north of Jadersdorf , of which earth walls and scanty wall remains are still present. however, the finds go back to the Urnfield and Hallstatt times.

Weißenbachklamm

The gorge to the north-east of the village can only be climbed via several ladders, for which you are rewarded with a direct view of the caves of the limestone springs and varied vegetation, such as deer-tongue fern .

After Bruno Kreisky's conviction for high treason and his eviction from all universities, he spent a few months in Jadersdorf as an unskilled worker in a weaving mill.
