Kaiser Wilhelm II at the Promnitz hunting lodge in 1908

In the place of the hunting lodge stood a palace of the Barons of Promnitz, mentioned in 1766 .

The hunting lodge was built in 1861 in the neo-Gothic style for Duke Johann Heinrich XI. Hochberg von Pleß (1833–1907) built according to a design by the Hochberg court architect Oliver Pavelt. After a fire in 1868 it was rebuilt and supplemented. It is a partially boarded three-storey half - timbered building on a cross-shaped floor plan. There are dormers in the saddle roofs. The representative rooms on the first floor are paneled with wood and decorated with hunting trophies. There is a neo-Gothic fireplace in the hunting hall.

A coach house and stable building belong to the castle . Before 1878 the castle was connected to the park of the castle Pleß by an avenue . Today it houses a hotel.

On the forecourt there is a colossal Hubertus group made of bronzed cast zinc, which was created in 1864 by the Berlin sculptor Johannes Janda .
