Jahshaka is a free and platform-independent video software for editing videos. Jahshaka 2.0.0 left beta in 2013 and is available as a release. It supports a wide range of real-time effects and from version 2 the announced non-linear video editing system is also available. Jahshaka uses the Qt library . Commercial competitors are Newtek's Video Toaster and Pinnacle Liquid Edition . With OpenGL and OpenML , Jahshaka can be easily ported to other platforms.

Jahshaka is released under the GNU General Public License and was largely developed by Jah Shaka, whose real name is Karsten Becker. Jah Shaka was born in Kingston (Jamaica) , was a seller of SGI systems and has now devoted himself to programming.

On February 10, 2009, the developers announced that the project would continue under the name Cinefx.

After a long break, the developers of Jahshaka now want to tackle version 3. A release date has not yet been set (as of October 2016).
