Jakobínarína was an Icelandic band from Hafnarfjörður . The style of the band can be assigned to indie rock , but also has elements of garage punk and garage rock .
history
Jakobínarína was founded at the end of 2004. The five-piece group received their first attention in 2005 after winning the Icelandic music competition Músíktilraunir . Shortly thereafter, the guitarist Heimir Gestur Valdimarsson joined the band, who was previously active in the Icelandic band Lada Sport . With the single His Lyrics Are Disastrous , the band was noticed for the first time beyond the country's borders in 2006. The only album by the group The First Crusade was released in 2007. The track I'm A Villain is part of the soundtrack of the computer game FIFA 09 . In February 2008, Jakobínarína announced their breakup on their MySpace page. Singer Gunnar Bergmann Ragnarsson said he was bored with the band life. The band played their farewell concert on March 8th, 2008 in the organ in central Reykjavík .
