Jakob Gillig

Jakob Gillig (* 1636 in Utrecht ; † around 1688 ibid) was a Dutch painter mainly of fish still lifes, as well as a merchant and prison guard.

Gillig became known for his still lifes , with which he mostly thematized river and lake fish. Later he turned to portraits with equal virtuosity .

Jakob Gillig died in 1688 at the age of about 50.
